In 1979 Jaco performed solo at least three times.  May 25th he lectured and played at the Guitar Institute of Technology, or GIT.  June 23rd he performed as part of the Newport Jazz Festival, accompanied by two percussionists, Don Alias and Carlos Valdes.  And on November 2nd, he played two solo shows at the Berliner Jazztage.
